We have begun a science unit on animals! We will observe and learn about goldfish, guppies, earthworms, and pill bugs. The students are currently learning about goldfish. We are identifying the parts of a goldfish, as well as learning about the goldfish's habitat. We are keeping our work at school in our new science folders. The students will bring them home at the end of the unit. It is exciting to have these animals in our room!

We are learning about Story Elements in reading! The children are summarizing and synthesizing to analyze story elements. When we read a story, we identify the characters and setting (when and where). Then, we summarize to name the problem. Finally, we discuss the solution. You can do this at home as you read with your child. The children are excited to retell the story and analyze the story elements!
It’s time to start Kindergarten homework! This sheet is to inform you about our homework and weekly expectations. We are working with your children to help them become responsible for their own work, but as kindergarteners, they will still need your help (and signatures!) from time to time as they grow and become more self-sufficient.
Mondays: Word Bird Word Homework (the strip of words in the envelope) DUE FRIDAY-1 date & initial per week required Tuesdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE WEDNESDAY Wednesdays: Reading Comprehension Homework (read the story with your child and answer questions) DUE THURSDAY—signature required Thursdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE FRIDAY Other Important Information: Reading Calendars are due at the end of each month-the calendar must be signed, and the child must read for at least 300 minutes to be eligible for the reward. Thank you all so much for your help and support! The Kindergarten Teachers |
Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
