Influenza… It’s that “fun” time of year again with the cold and flu season. Our school has seen an increase in students exhibiting rapid onset of elevated oral temperature (over 100 degrees) and cough or sore throat. These symptoms are typically referred to as, “influenza like illness” or ILI. As you are involved with our students at school, I need your help in reinforcing these steps to try to help all of us stay healthy as possible. As a reminder per the CDC (and our district policy) If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends and district policy is.. you should stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. Thanks for your help with this! Mandy Reitmeier, RN Our reading unit is all about making predictions! We are learning how to use our prior knowledge about making inferences to help us make predictions while we read. The students are learning how to use the clues in the words and pictures to make a good guess about what happens next. We stop as we read to confirm our prediction. Sometimes we are correct and other times we need to adjust our thinking to what actually happened. Then, we make a new prediction. We are also learning about expanding our vocabulary, nouns, and adjectives. If we come across a word we don't know, we can ask someone to define the word for us. This helps us learn new words and expand our vocabulary. We learned the word "noun". A noun is a person, place, thing, or animal. Later this week, we will learn the word "adjective". An adjective is a word that describes a noun. |
Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
