The students have begun their word study! On Friday, a list of words was sent home with each student. Every Friday, your child will bring home a new set of words. We started with easy words so we can practice the routines and procedures. In a few weeks, each child will bring home a set of words at their level. On Monday, we learned how to do our initial word sort. Today, we learned how to do a writing sort. On Wednesday, we will learn how to do a word hunt. On Thursday, we do a buddy sort. And on Friday, we take our test. Next week, we will learn more sorts and games to go along with our Word Study. Students should be explaining the process to you at home each evening. Then, you can help your child with their word study throughout the year.

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
