The students are determining text importance in order to identify the sequence of events. We are looking for time order words, such as first, next, then, and last. The students have used different tools and graphic organizers to help them in their learning. We wrote on sticky notes to sequence a story about butterflies. We read about the life cycle of a frog and used a graphic organizer to record the key events. Next week, we will do a reader's theater to practice all we have learned about sequence of events. As you are reading with your child, ask them to use time order words to retell the story in the correct sequence. When your child is writing, have them use the time order words to sequence their own story or journal.
Happy Sequencing!
