It would be helpful to send in a pair of extra clothes for your child to keep at school. All sorts of accidents happen here at school. Sometimes the children don't make it to the restroom in time, they spill milk or food at lunch, or get into a mess on the playground. The school nurse has a very limited supply of extra clothes. If you put together a bag of extra clothes, I'll show the students where they can keep them in the room just in case. Thanks!

It is week two of our reading unit on main idea and details! The students are learning how the main idea is the big idea of the passage or book. The details help us see what the main idea will be. We are also asking questions while we read. The questions help us to identify both the main idea and details. This is something you can talk about at home as you read.
Wacky Hair and School Spirit Day
Friday Oct. 30th 2015 This Friday you can show your school spirit by dressing in Woodland wear or in blue and green. You can also sport a wacky and wild hair style that day. We are learning how to read to someone! One of our Daily 5 reading times is read to someone. We created an I chart together. The I is for independence! Ask your child what independence means. They know! We listed what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like to be independent during read to someone time. We also learned about EEKK! Eekk stands for: Elbow, Elbow, Knee, Knee. This is how we sit so we can share a book with someone. The class is cooperating and building our read to someone time together. Here are some pictures of us reading to someone! On Wednesday, October 14, we celebrated Unity Day! The children learned about being an up-stander, not a bully. We wore orange to celebrate our unity as a class and school. Our 3rd grade buddies came for a visit. We traced our hands, cut them out, and decorated them to show our unity. Here are some pictures of our day! Conferences began this morning! I am so excited to meet with everyone and learn more about you and your child. Please be sure to arrive on time. We only have twenty minutes, and I want to respect each family's conference time. The Bookfair will be in the front hallway during each conference time. This is a great opportunity to get books for your child and it helps our school! I look forward to seeing the rest of you tonight, or next week!
Conferences begin next week! They are Tuesday, October 13, Tuesday, October 20, and Thursday, October 22 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 4:30-7:30 p.m. Please sign up on the link:
http//www.ptcfast.com/schools/Woodland_Elementary_School or call the office at (763)315-6400 to schedule your conference. I look forward to seeing you! Last week, every child shared his or her Hopes and Dreams for kindergarten! We had fun hearing what everyone wants to accomplish this year. They are now up on our cabinet doors.
This week, I have been sharing your Hopes and Dreams for your child. The students are thrilled to hear what you want them to achieve this year! If you have not yet sent in the hand with your Hopes and Dreams for your child, it's not too late. Please think about what you would like for your child to learn this year. Write it down on the hand cut-out that was sent home (let me know if you need another one). Send it back to school in your child's folder. I'll be hanging them up with your child's Hopes and Dreams. Wednesday afternoon, we went to the Eiden Homestead Brooklyn Park Historical Farm. We had a wonderful time learning about farm life 100 years ago. The weather was perfect and the students enjoyed their bus ride. Here are some pictures of the trip. |
Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
