We have finished our writing unit on book reviews! The students have been working hard on writing their opinions about different books. We have learned that we can review the characters, the illustrations, and the whole story. When we write reviews, we need to explain why we like or dislike different book elements. I encourage you to have discussions with your child about what they think about the books you are reading at home. Have a journal or notebook for them to write their thoughts about the books they are reading. Keep on reviewing those stories!
Hello students and families,
My name is Ms. Nord, and I am the student teacher that is in your child's classroom. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with your student and to learn and grow along with them. As I look over what your child is going to learn over the next six weeks, I know that I am going to be a hard working, supportive, responsible, and dedicated teacher. I am going to tell you a little bit about myself, so you can get a chance to get to know me a little bit. I grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota. There I live with my mom and dad, two brothers, and a dog. I am in my last semester of receiving my elementary education degree from Valley City State University and a human development and family science degree from North Dakota State University. My favorite color is purple, and I love to experiment with photography on my free time. Spending time with both friends and family is very important to me, and I never take that time with them for granted. Lastly, my favorite animal is turtles. The next six weeks that I am here is going to be fun, educational, and full of new experiences. I look forward to getting to know your child and spending a lot of time helping them learn and grow! Sincerely, Ms. Nord
Eastman Nature Center has an interesting program: Walk When the Moon is Full. The next one is Thursday 1/12 at 6:30. It will be a hike outside with interesting facts about owls. They usually serve hot chocolate and treats after the talk and hike. The whole family is welcome. See below for registration information.

During our first week we have been reviewing. We re-read our Hopes and Dreams and thought about how to reach our goals. The class went over our Constitution (rules) and discussed how the rules help us become a learning community. We reflected on our Woodland SOAR expectations. How do we show Safety, Own our Actions, Act with Leadership, and Be Resourceful? We also reviewed our class CARES: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control. All of these things will help make 2017 a great year! |
Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
