Well, it appears what little fall we had has come and gone. I am hoping for a few warmer days yet before the real deep freeze sets in. With the change in weather comes a change in outdoor clothes. Please send your child to school with temperature appropriate winter gear. Snow pants and boots may be worn now to add an extra layer of warmth, but are not necessary UNTIL there is snow. We ask that children have snow pants and boots when there is snow so they are able to play in the snow and stay safe and warm. Please label gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, snow pants, boots, coats with your child's name. I know it is time consuming, but we have lots of items and many of them are the same color, size, and style. We want to be sure that your child has the correct items you have sent. If you are unable to purchase any items, please reach out to me and let me know. We will be able to get the item you need for your child. Thank you for your help! Get ready for the cold! It is coming!
The routines have been learned. We know our classmates names. The children are settling into learning. That means it is assessment time!
We have just finished our first reading and math units. They did a wonderful job taking their first whole group assessment. This is a new experience for us. We have to learn how to use testing materials properly. The children are learning how to listen and follow directions in order to show us what they know. This is a process we will be working on all year. We will re-assess throughout the year to show growth. We are letting the children know we do not expect them to be perfect yet. This is their first time doing many of these things and they need to practice still. Most of our assessments are still done one-on-one. With the trimester ending at the end of this month, we are re-evaluating many things such as letters and numbers. We will be sending home assessments and checks as we complete them. I am thrilled to see such amazing growth since the beginning of the school year! Please take time to celebrate with your child! |
Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
