Happy Traveling!
Travel Buddies are set and ready to begin their adventure! Each child that wanted to participate has a bag with their supplies. Give your travel buddy bag to a family member, friend, or co-worker. They will write in the journal about their experiences with the travel buddy and hopefully mail a postcard to us at school. Then, they will pass the travel buddy on to another person. The students love to get postcards from their buddies throughout the year. The postcards come from many places all around the world. We will be marking the locations on our travel buddy map. In May, the travel buddies will be mailed back to us at school and we will have a welcome home party. The children get to read the notebook filled with all their travel buddy's adventures. So don't forget to pass along the travel buddy this week when you are celebrating with family and friends.
Happy Traveling!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you enjoy a break with your children. The students are excited to have a few days off of school. If you are traveling, I wish you safety. Enjoy time with your family.
We are wrapping up a mini-unit on shapes. We have been describing and naming different shapes. The students are learning shapes may have more than one name, the definitions, and characteristics. This is something that you can continue to work on and reinforce at home. We will get back to shapes later in the year, so if your child has not yet mastered this standard, he or she will have more opportunities.

We are finishing up our unit on story or word problems in math. The students helped create this web that focuses on the different aspects of story problems. They discuss the 4-step problem solving strategy, the different genres of story problems, the types of strategies used to solve story problems and the importance of showing our work. Our scholars will assess Friday. Take some time to discuss the web and what your child knows about story problems. Happy Problem Solving! The following is information from Lifetouch:

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
