We are learning how to use our prior knowledge about making inferences to help us make predictions while we read. The students are learning how to use the clues in the words and pictures to make a good guess about what happens next. We stop as we read to confirm our prediction. Sometimes we are correct and other times we need to adjust our thinking to what actually happened. Then, we make a new prediction.
We are also learning about expanding our vocabulary, nouns, and adjectives. If we come across a word we don't know, we can ask someone to define the word for us. This helps us learn new words and expand our vocabulary. We learned the word "noun". A noun is a person, place, thing, or animal. Later this week, we will learn the word "adjective". An adjective is a word that describes a noun.
