Please fill out and return all emergency and health forms if you have not already done so. I am still collecting $20 donation for student supplies. Students should be bringing their folder to school every day. You may send a pair of tennis shoes to keep in your child's cubby for phy ed and recess. It is also helpful to keep a bag of spare clothes in case of any accidents or spills. Thank you!

We have made it through our first week of kindergarten! Our class has been busy!
We are learning all about the cafeteria. The students are learning how to go through the lunch line, how to type in their number, where to sit, and how to clean their spot. Please practice your child's lunch number at home. We want the students to be as independent as possible and your help if appreciated. We have had our first three color days. On Wednesday, we read Clifford stories and learned a red song. Thursday was purple day. We red about Harold and his purple crayon and made our own purple pictures. Friday is orange day. Our story and activity is centered on the story The Orange Splot. The students are learning about class tools. We are learning how to use and where to keep crayons, pencils, colored pencils, scissors, and glue sticks. Our class has a daily morning meeting. We begin our day with a greeting and read a message. In the next few weeks, we will add a sharing time and an activity. This time builds friendships and creates our class community. The children are also learning many daily routines, procedures, and expectations. Things like washing our hands, lining up, walking in the hallways, and many other things we do every day. Needless to say, we are tired! Our days are busy and we are working and playing from 9:20-4:00! It has been a fun and exciting week! It is here! As I sit on my couch with my cat and cup of coffee I am filled with that excitement. The excitement of another first day of school. As I think back about the last few weeks, I see exactly how my excitement has grown. It started during the beginning of August. I was coming back to school to prepare for our assessment days. There was the typical paper work and room set up to do. And then it was here. Three days of meeting our new students. Their excitement was evident by their smiles and twinkle in their eyes. This excitement does something to me. It reminds me why I am called to do this. I love the joy kindergartners have when learning. They learn for the pure joy of learning. And I am blessed to be a part of this. I am almost finished with my coffee. Gilmore is eager to be fed. There are tables, crayons, memory books, and a host of other things ready to go in room 11. But the thing that is most exciting me is your children. I can't wait to begin this journey with you all this year. I know it is going to be a wonderful year of growth, joy, and excitement!

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
