Next week, we begin learning about character response. We have been focusing on character traits, and now will move to how characters respond to the events in the story. When reading with your child at home, ask questions about the characters. What did the character do? What happened in the story to make the character respond that way? What traits does the character have? How did a different character respond to the same event? Why did they respond differently/same? These and other questions will help develop reading comprehension.

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
