We have begun a Geometry mini-unit in math. We reviewed the definitions of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, and quadrilaterals. This is still difficult for many students. Keep practicing this at home. Today, we drew diagonals that connected one corner to the opposite corner of the shape. We discussed the new shapes made by the diagonal. Tomorrow, we will connect midpoints on shapes. After reviewing, we will take the unit test early next week. Keep practicing precision in drawing diagonals and midpoints at home. Also, encourage your child to discuss their observations about the shapes made once the diagonals and midpoints are drawn. Point out similarities and differences. Use the terms square, rectangle, parallelogram, and quadrilateral. Enjoy!

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
