Our reading unit is about making predictions. We are using clues and evidence within the text, as well as our own experiences and knowledge to make inferences. These inferences help us to make good predictions about the book. We not only make predictions in reading, but across other curricular areas. Making predictions is something we are doing in our everyday lives. We are learning how to identify the process in our brain and verbalize it. You can practice making predictions at home!

I can't remember what we were talking about the other night but we said something about predictions and Nora said, "hey, i know what that is." When I asked her what, she said, "using inferences from things we see or hear". We giggled. And she pulled out predictions again when we were filling out our family NCAA basketball brackets. I love the little sponges they are! Nice work!

Wonderful! I'm thrilled to hear she is applying it in her everyday life!

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
