We are learning about time in math. Unit 6 is a mini-unit, so we will be testing the week of the 21st. Students have a good understanding of the basics of time! We are learning how to draw the hour hand to reflect how many minutes are past the hour. Another challenge is telling how many minutes before and past an hour (15 minutes before 5:00 or 45 minutes after 4:00 for 4:45). We reviewed A.M. and P.M., naming activites you would do during a certain time of the day, and telling time to the hour, half-hour, and five-minute. We still are working on telling time the the one-minute and elasped time (how many hours and minutes between two differnt clocks). Next week we look at calendar skills. You can practice with your child at home. They love it when I stop all of a sudden and ask, "What time is it? Let's find out!"

Ms. BedfordI have been teaching for 22 years. When not at school, I enjoy traveling, knitting, and getting together with family and friends. My cat Gilmore brings me laughter with her silly antics. It is a joy to watch children learn and grow during the school year! Archives
